Work From Home Mom
Work from Home Mom
If you are a work from home mom, the chances are you have been searching on the internet for work from home opportunities that will fit in with your busy schedule. There really is no busier person than a Work from Home Mom, especially if you have children under school age. Really how busy do you want to get? Do you really want another job?
So what sort of work should you be looking for and how are you going to fit this work around your children and your daily tasks?
Many years ago (I am now a work at home Granny by the way) when my children were little I was determined to be at home with them until they were old enough for me to return to teaching. I had 3 children and stayed at home with them until my youngest was 9 years old and my eldest was 14 years old.
Being a work from home mom had many advantages for me. Besides the obvious advantage of being with my children through the early stages of their development, I was also able to attend the various school functions like sports day, morning assemblies, school trips and the Christmas nativity play.
As a work from home mom I had the opportunity to try many different types of work. Initially I did some private English tuition with a couple of pupils who needed extra help. I also had some success making children’s sundresses. Together with some friends we set up a little cottage industry making ties (in the days when flowery ties were all the rage) and we sold them to the workers in various factories. We also made leather bags and belts from factory off cuts and sold them at a local market.
Although all of the above were fun and financially successful they proved to be rather time consuming for a work from home mom, who by then had 3 children under the age of 5 years old. I decided it was time to look for another opportunity. I had always liked wicker furniture and accessories and saw an advert for party planners in a local paper. Although this was not strictly a work from home job as such, it was something that I could do flexibly so that I was still able to be at home for the children during the day and I was able to choose how much or how little work I did. Some of the work like arranging the parties and sorting out the orders could be done from home and I was able to take the children with me to deliver the orders. Most of the parties of course were held in the evening when the children were in bed and my husband was available to babysit
Another of my jobs as a work from home mom, was selling educational books and toys to playgroups. This was an excellent way to integrate both my work as a sales person and time with my children, as I was able to take them with me to the playgroups and they had the opportunity to play with lots of different children and be involved in lots of activities at the different playgroups.
If I wanted to be a work from home mom in the 21st century, I guess I would be more inclined to find work on the internet, as this seems to offer so many opportunities and also is probably more convenient for most work from home moms as the work really is based in the home.
Whatever you decide to do, the important thing to remember is that your children are only young once. If you miss that time with them, you can never recapture it. Your children deserve to be with you and you deserve to be with them. So resolve to be a Work From Home Mom and search the internet for an opportunity that suits your needs and feels right for you. You will find the time, your time is your own ad you can put in as much as you feel you need, no pressure.
